Roulette Strategy
One of the most popular casino games is Roulette. It’s a game that was first popularized in land-based casinos. However, as technology advanced, it found its way into the world of cyberspace and into our homes. Now, we can play roulette anytime and anywhere we want. But what exactly is Roulette?
Roulette, primarily, is a game of chance. Its name is a derivation from the French term which means “little wheel”. Indeed, in the game of roulette, the most notable feature is the roulette wheel. Written on this wheel are numbers that are either black or red. Players get to bet on whichever number, or range of numbers, they want. Or they could also bet on “red or black” or on “odd or even”. When the wheel is spun, a tiny ball is all spun along with it but in the opposite direction. Eventually, the ball will fall into the wheel and both will keep spinning until they lose momentum. The number or color where the ball stops determines the winners. From the description of the gameplay itself, you can automatically surmise that winning on roulette depends mainly on your luck. You have to be able to choose the winning number among all the others. This automatically gives the house an edge, as a typical wheel usually has 37 or 38 numbers and the ball could land on any one of those. Some people, however, believe that there is such a thing as Roulette strategy.
Roulette strategy isn’t quite like the strategy one employs in a game like poker, wherein the player really takes an active role. There are no techniques that deal with intimidating your opponent or what not. Instead, all the techniques in roulette deal with lowering the house edge and improving yours. Here are a few of them:
Always Choose European over American
In a typical American roulette wheel, there are usually 38 numbers. In a typical European roulette wheel, there are only 37. Statistically, this means that your odds of winning are greater at a European table than it is in an American. But that’s not all. Do you know what the green numbers are? In a roulette table, there are some green numbers, usually. In a typical European roulette wheel, there are only 37. Statistically, this means that your odds of winning are greater at a European table than it is in an American. But that’s not all. Do you know what the green numbers are? Well, let me tell you. These green numbers are what give the house an edge over all the players. In a roulette table, there are some green numbers, particularly the zeroes. In a European table, there is only one zero. In an American roulette table, however, there are two. Of course, should the green number come out, those who bet on black and red will automatically lose. So really, if you have any choice between European and American, you’d be an utter fool to pick the latter.
Now, before we continue, let me remind you again that roulette is a game of chance. And if you want any sort of advice, then it’s probably best if you take it from one of the sharpest minds that ever walked the earth, Albert Einstein himself. He said that the only way to beat a roulette table is if you steal money from it. So, really, roulette is really nothing more than a game of luck. And any technique that claims to predict the outcome really has no guarantee at all of working. But if you still wish to continue, then plow on.
Andrucci System
Some players believe that in a game of roulette, there are certain numbers which are “hot”. That is, they appear more often than the other numbers. The logic behind this is that, while the numbers will come out in the statistically correct way in the long run, some of them are bound to appear more often in the short run. According to the Andrucci System, you can find out how to determine them by tracking the last twenty to thirty spins. Then, when you’re done, take note of those numbers because they are supposedly “hot”.
Of course, you should remember that there really are no hot numbers and all of the numbers in the board really do have an equal chance of appearing.
1st and 3rd Column
One way to increase your chances of winning is to spread your bets. Of, this is only half of the truth. Spreading your bets would increase your chances of winning, but it’s no guarantee that you’ll win big. You will, at least, lessen your chances of losing money completely. But the question is, where and how should you spread your bets? The answer is by using the 1st and 3rd column strategy. Basically, what you should do is to place one bet of 2 chips on the first column, another one bet of 2 chips on the third column. This will allow you to cover almost all of the red numbers on the wheel. Then, set aside one bet of 2 chips on the black so that, should a black number appear, you will at least be insured. By doing this, you will have covered almost all numbers, except for the four red ones in the middle column and the zero or, in the case of American Roulette, zeroes. If the result that comes out is a red number on columns 1 and 3, then the player wins 4 chips. If the result is black and on the middle column, then he will lose only 2 chips. Ultimately, this technique will give you modest winnings if you’re lucky. Or, at the very least, it will ensure that you won’t go home bankrupt. Statistics will tell you, however, that if you use this technique, then in the long run, you will only break even.
All in all, it’s up to you if you want to use some techniques on roulette. But, really, in a game of chance, the best thing you can do is to just sit back, relax, have fun, and let lady luck guide you.
